Larry Jones 1945-2021
Larry J. Jones, 75, of Holton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021.
He was born June 21, 1945, in Holton, the son of Everett and Selma Rannebeck Jones.
Larry graduated from Holton High School in 1963. He had worked for BNSF Railroad from 1963 until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka.
Larry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1969, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served as crew chief on C130 cargo planes, traveling to many countries, including Vietnam. During this time, Larry was privileged to crew for the U.S.A.F. Thunderbirds.
He was married to Kathryn Ann “Kathy” Ireland on Nov. 21, 1964, in Holton. Kathy survives of the home.
He is also survived by his daughter, Christine Cooley (Adrian) of Sonoma, Calif.; his son, Michael Jones of Topeka; his sister, LouAnn Porter (David) of Mayetta; and his granddaughter, Allison Cooley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Selma Jones; and his sister, Sharolyn Paxton.
Larry will lie in state from Friday afternoon, Feb. 19, through Monday, Feb. 22, until 6 p.m. each day at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. No public services will be held.
