Kenneth Melvin 1958-2023

Kenneth Lyle Melvin, 65, of Onaga, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, with family by his side.

He was born Aug. 20, 1958, in Seneca, the son of Lyle Henry and Nelda Karen (Steele) Melvin.

Kenneth graduated from Jackson Heights High School in 1976. He was a control room operator for Jeffery Energy Center. He was also a farmer, stockman and bee-keeper.

He enjoyed hunting, wood carving, Civil War reenacting and mostly his family.

Kenneth was a member of the Corning United Methodist Church.

He married Denise Leeann Walters on July 26, 1980, in Corning; they celebrated more than 43 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Denise, of the home; his parents, Henry and Nelda Melvin of Soldier; three sons, Steven Lyle Melvin (Cammie (Wilkens) Melvin) of Randolph, Jeremy Lee Melvin (Emily (Meyer) Melvin) of Soldier and Brendan Lane Melvin of Ottawa; and two grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth and Henry Dean Melvin.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
