Kathryn Wahwasuck 1953-2024
Kathryn A. Wahwasuck, 70, Mayetta, died Saturday, June 15, 2024, at her home with family by her side.
She was born Dec. 18, 1953, in Maryville, Tenn., the daughter of Richard William and Anita Faye Harris Mead. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1971 in Denver, Colo., and from Friends University in Wichita in 2000.
Mrs. Wahwasuck was an applications development supervisor for the State of Kansas for 20 years, retiring in 2016.
She was a member of Topeka Bible Church.
She married Douglas C. Wahwasuck on Sept. 4, 1978, in Wichita. He died March 28, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Anita F. Mead.
Survivors include her father, Richard Mead, Weslaco, Texas; three sons, Robert Specht, Mayetta, Stephen Specht and wife Lori, Aurora, Colo., and Michael Wahwasuck and wife Tammy, Lakewood, Colo.; two sisters, Theresa Meyer and husband Jerry, St. Petersburg, N.D., and Mary Mead-Cortez and husband Angel, Granite Falls, Wash.; four brothers, John Mead and wife Jane, Traverse City, Mich., Richard Mead, Grand Junction, Colo., Gary Mead, Bailey, Colo., and Stephen Mead, Traverse City, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Steven Douglas Wahwasuck, Christopher Douglas Wahwasuck, Michael Douglas Wahwasuck and Caitlyn Elizabeth Specht.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Wahwaksum Cemetery. Mrs. Wahwasuck will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 24 at the funeral home.
