June Alma Brown Schlodder, 87, of Holton, formerly of Denison, passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at Vintage Park of Holton, with family by her side.

She was born June 13, 1936 in Netawaka, the daughter of Roy Virgil and Mabel Ferne (Bohnenkemper) Hallauer.

June graduated from Horton High School in 1954. She worked for Duckwall in Horton and for more than 25½ years for the State of Kansas in the Department of Revenue as a supervisor with the Checkers Unit.

She was a member of Mayetta Methodist Church and Mayetta OES #383.

June married Aaron Brown, Jr. on Aug. 29, 1954. They later divorced and he passed away in 1998. She married Floyd Albert Schlodder on Aug. 1, 1975 in Horton; he preceded her in death in July of 2016 after 40 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mabel Hallauer; an infant daughter, Virginia A. Brown, in 1958; a son, Gary D. Brown, in 2018; two sisters, Lois A. Winterscheidt (Francis) and Donna L. Knudson; her twin brother, Gene A. Hallauer; and a brother, Allen J. Hallauer.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen R. Ramirez (Lalo) of Topeka; two sons, Darrell W. Brown (Margy) of Topeka and Russell A. Brown (Carol) of Mesa, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Shirley M. Gray (Mike) of Las Cruses, Mexico; daughter-in-law, Tracy Brown of Mesa, Ariz.; two brothers, Arnel R. Hallauer (Jan) of Ames, Iowa, and Virgil J. Hallauer (Anna Jo) of Hiawatha; a brother-in-law, Lee Knudson of Horton; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Hallauer of Basehor and Donna Hallauer of Horton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
