Joshua Penry 1985-2023

Joshua Daniel Penry, 38, of Holton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023, at his home.

He was born July 18, 1985 in Winchester, the son of Daryl Penry and Lisa (Jenkins) Siemens.

Josh graduated from Royal Valley High School in 2004. He volunteered for the Jackson County Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry and he participated in the Special Olympics. Josh enjoyed riding his bike, swimming, fishing and playing baseball and softball.

Survivors include his father, Daryl Penry (Glenda) of Meriden; his mother, Lisa Siemens of Holton; his grandmother, Sharron Jenkins of Holton; and two brothers, Joey Penry (Christal) of Williamsburg, Mo., and Jacob Underwood of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gerald Jenkins; and his paternal grandparents, Cecil and Virginia Penry.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16 at Mercer Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. at Holton Cemetery.
