Jessie Clay Mick 1985-2015

Jessie Clay Mick, 30, of Rossville, formerly of Holton, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born March 19, 1985 in Onaga, the son of Dennis Adair Mick and Patrick David and Mary Ruth (Noland) Johnson.

Jessie attended Central school in Holton. He also attended Rossville Grade School and graduated from Rossville High School in 2003. He attended Tarc during the day, from age 16 to 26. He then moved to supportive living day service from age 16 to 28. Jessie had worked for Tarc-Ties doing general duties.

Jessie attended Rossville United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Special Olympics, participating in bowling and track. 

Survivors include: his father and mother, Patrick and Mary Johnson of Rossville; a sister, Kelly Mick of Wichita; two brothers, Daniel Johnson (Amber) and Jared Johnson (Lannie), both of Topeka; paternal grandparents, Dean and Mary Mick of Holton; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Adair Mick, in 1993; maternal grandparents, Boyd and Opal Noland; paternal grandmother, Marie Leach; and grandparents, Fred and DeElla Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 at the Rossville United Methodist Church. Family greeted friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rossville United Methodist Church special Christmas fund in memory of Jessie, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.

Mr. Mick will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton beginning Monday afternoon.
