Jeffery Hunter 1955-2023

Jeffery (Jeff) Allen Hunter, 67, of Mayetta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Medicalodges Jackson County, Holton.

Jeff was born on Aug. 2, 1955, at Fort Campbell, Ky., to Jackie Harold Hunter and Janice Marie (Grace) Hunter. He graduated from Lawrence High School, Lawrence, in 1973.

During his father’s military service career in the U.S. Army, Jeff and his family lived at Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks, Alaska, where Jeff became a junior police officer. He enjoyed travel, singing, fishing and farm living helping his grandparents, Ivy and Buna Grace on their family farm in Kirksmanville, Ky. While residing in Mayetta, Jeff was employed at Prairie Band Casino and Resort.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Jackie and Janice Hunter; and grandparents, Otto and Blanche (Rodkey) Hunter, and Ivy Arthur and Buna Lorene (Wilson) Grace.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Anne Gutierrez-Hunter; a son, Keith Thomas (Kimberly) Hunter of Canton, Mich.; two sisters, Jeanette Darlene Catherine Hunter and Jennifer Lynn (Hunter) Foxworthy of Greenwood, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Vincenzo, Allie and Jack.
