Jack Wallisch 1933-2016
Jack L. Wallisch, 83, Meriden, formerly of Denison, died Saturday, May 14, 2016, as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born March 16, 1933, in Valley Falls, the son of John L. and Mayme A. Spiker Wallisch. He graduated from Denison High School in 1951.
Mr. Wallisch served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. He owned and operated Wallisch and Sons Construction for 40 years, from 1966 to 2006. He was also a farmer and stockman.
He was a member of Denison Bible Church, serving as elder and Awana leader, and was presently attending Rock Creek Bible Church. He was a former member of the Holton and Denison school boards and former Captain of Denison Storm Spotters. He also was a summer baseball coach and Optimist basketball coach in earlier years.
He married Patricia A. McAlexander on June 16, 1957. She died April 2, 2000. He married Colleen J. Falley Tichenor on Sept. 10, 2005. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Cy Wallisch and wife Colette, Effingham, and John Wallisch and wife Heather, Denison; a daughter, Rhonda Davis, Denison; three stepdaughters, Sherry Bruner and husband Gary and Nancy Lee and husband Jerit, all of Topeka, and Janette Harris and husband Jared, Mayetta; two stepsons, David Tichenor and Stan Tichenor, both of Valley Falls; two sisters, Patricia Clark, Topeka, and Melba Dodson and husband Orville, Onaga; a brother, Forrest “Wally” Wallisch and wife Marjorie, Hixon, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
