Helen Louise Williams, 94, formerly of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 4, 1930, in Holton, Helen Louise lived a life defined by kindness, compassion and resilience.

Her warm and giving spirit touched everyone who knew her. Helen Louise, also known as Grandma Williams, had the gift of creativity, whether through her love of doing hair, sewing or creating beautiful wedding cakes that became cherished centerpieces of countless celebrations. In her late 80s, she embraced quilting, finding immense pride in mastering a new craft – an inspiring testament to her determination and zest for life.

Helen Louise’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always showing up with an open heart and a listening ear. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter and unconditional love. Grandma Williams’ legacy is one of generosity and care as she had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued, loved and like they belonged.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Dale C. Williams (1997), son Forest K. Williams (2010), brother Gerald Rawlings of Wichita and sister Lois Ellen Trotta of Phoenix, Ariz. Helen Louise is survived by son Alan Williams, daughter Denise Tanking (Jerry), son Bill Williams (Linda) and Todd Williams.

A celebration of Helen Louise’s life will be held by immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her honor to St. Jude’s, reflecting her lifelong spirit of giving.

Helen Louise’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.
