Harvey Wells 1931-2023
Harvey William Wells, 92, of Holton, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023, at Medicalodges Jackson County.
He was born July 29, 1931, in Hamburg, Iowa, the son of Lester Dean and Nellie Marie (Mount) Wells.
Harvey attended rural high schools. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952.
He worked for Ford Motor Company for more than 31 years, retiring in 1987 as assembly supervisor.
Harvey was a member of Larkinburg Christian Church, Meriden OES #399 and a 50-year mason, most recently of Mayetta Masonic Lodge #393.
Harvey married Pamelia Ann “Pam” Magill on May 19, 2012, in Florence. They celebrated more than 11 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Wells, of the home; a daughter-in-law, Carrie Wells of Gladstone, Mo.; two stepsons, Paul Wikoff (Susan) of Florence and Russell Wikoff (Cindy) of New Berlin, Wisc.; five sisters, Helen Rice of Gladstone, Mo., Darlene Dise-Brucker of Laguna Miguel, Calif., Carolyn Glassman of Ville Park, Calif., Minnie Arnhold (Allen) of Topeka and Janet Brady (Karl) of Lemon Grove, Calif.; a brother, Harold McAlexander of Denison; a granddaughter, Chantel Peppers (Nathan); two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Kayden; five stepgrandchildren and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Wells and Nellie McAlexander; a son, Michael Wells; two sisters, Loveta Evensdorf and Mildred Lester; and two brothers, Roy and Junior McAlexander.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow at the South Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2 at the funeral home.
