Harold Zibell 1931-2026
Harold “Zeke” Lee Zibell, 94, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at Brookdale Memory Care.
He was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Holton, the son of John Fred and Violet M. (Shannon) Zibell.
Zeke graduated from Holton High School in 1950 and attended Washburn University on a basketball scholarship. He was an avid Washburn University basketball and University of Kansas basketball fan.
He began his lifelong sales career at Scott Chevrolet, Jayhawk Motors and Kent Brown Chevrolet. After working as a sales manager at Lewis Toyota, he was consistently the top salesman at Ed Bozarth Chevrolet and Noller Lincoln Mercury, to name a few.
Zeke married Joan Meinholdt in 1965 in Topeka. They divorced in 1985.
Zeke was a classic car enthusiast, especially sports cars and specifically Corvettes. He enjoyed Topeka’s nightlife at local spots like Picasso’s, Bennigan’s and Blind Tiger. He loved traveling as well as leisure time at home.
Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Zibell (fiancé Kent Lindstrom) of St. Louis, Mo.; and his granddog, Remus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Violet Zibell; and two brothers, Herman “Dale” Zibell and Charles “Shannon” Zibell.
Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
