Harold Tosh 1933-2016
Harold Edward Tosh, 83, Holton, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016.
He was born Feb. 10, 1933, near Valley Falls, the son of Cecil and Luella White Tosh. He lived most of his early life in the Coal Creek community north of Valley Falls and graduated from Effingham High School in 1950.
Mr. Tosh was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served during the Korean War. He later worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 34 years before retiring after having a heart transplant on Oct. 8, 1989.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Holton.
He married Geneva Burget on Feb. 12, 1956, at Coal Creek Church. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Shirley VanDonge and husband Danny, Havensville; a son, Harold Thomas Tosh, Holton; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Loren Tosh, Glendale, Ariz., and Joe Tosh, Westcliffe, Colo.; and two sisters, Barbara Goodrich and Sue Manthe both of Topeka. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Millard Tosh; and a sister, Melva Bowie.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2 at First Christian Church in Holton. Private family inurnment will be held in Holton Cemetery.
