Georgette Hinkle 1964-2025
Georgette Marie Hinkle, 61, Mayetta, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
She was born Aug. 19, 1964, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Loyd and Adeline Jessepe Horn. She graduated from Platte County R3 High School in 1982, attended the University of Missouri for a year and went on to earn her LPN degree from a vocational college in Missouri.
Mrs. Hinkle served in the U.S. Air Force. She was an LPN for more than 20 years at hospitals, assisted living facilities and as an agency nurse. She also served as director of nursing in care facilities in the Overland Park, Kansas City and Topeka areas. She also owned and operated Prairie Beads out of her home, making Native American jewelry.
She was a member of Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
She married Bruce Wayne Hinkle on Nov. 19, 2011, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Christopher Mann and wife Sarah, Algonquin, Ill.; her parents, Loyd and Adeline Horn, Parkville, Mo.; a sister, Debra Davis, West Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Loyd Horn, Kansas City, Mo.; and six nieces and nephews.
Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow at 11 a.m. at the Wetmore Cemetery. Mrs. Hinkle will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28 at the funeral home.
