George Williams 1936-2024
George Blaine Williams, 87, Topeka, died Monday, March 11, 2024, in Holton.
He was born Aug. 30, 1936, the son of Clinton and Charolotte Ruhl Williams. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1955 and attended Washburn University.
Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Southwestern Bell for about 10 years and later worked for the State of Kansas as a telecommunications specialist until he retired.
He was a past member of the VFW, Masonic Lodge and an active member of the Wanamaker Woods Nazarene Church for more than 30 years.
He married J. “Elaine” Smith on Nov. 17, 1957, at Westside Christian Church in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Jon Brandon Williams, Inola, Okla.; a daughter, Heather Crispin and husband Cris, Holton; six grandchildren, Mitchell Hampton and wife Brittany, Wichita, Conner Hampton and husband Lorenzo, New York, N.Y., Brenden Hampton and wife Ashlynn, Houston, Texas, Amanda Randa and husband Brett and Erin Burrell and husband Adam, all of Hays, and Andrew Crispin, Holton; eight great-grandchildren, Maddix, Trip, Melody, Aydyn, Cooper, James, Marleigh and Holden; three sisters-in-law, Janice Heaps and husband Mel, Broomfield, Colo., Barbara Jo Means and husband Jim, Littleton, Colo., and Glenda Sue Senne, Topeka.
He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Larry Smith and Stan Senne; and two great-grandchildren, Reed and Rowan.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 18 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
