Gary Steinbrink 1937-2025
In Loving Memory of Gary R. Steinbrink. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Friend.
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Gary R. Steinbrink, who died peacefully on Jan. 5, 2025 at the age of 87.
Born and raised in Horton, Gary was known for his quiet strength, deep kindness and unwavering integrity. He was the proud owner of Sportsman’s Barbershop in Kansas City, Kan. – a neighborhood staple where laughter flowed, stories were exchanged and friendships took root, all under the hum of clippers and Gary’s warm, easy smile.
A gifted craftsman, Gary found joy in painting and spent countless hours meticulously building his model train set – an enduring expression of his patience, creativity and care.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lavita Kay Steinbrink, his faithful partner in a life filled with love, laughter and lasting memories. He leaves behind his sons, Jay (Cindy) and Dan (Leslie); his grandchildren, Kathryn (Mark) Case, Hannah Steinbrink and Lily Steinbrink; and his great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Wyatt Case – each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Though he may be gone, Gary’s legacy endures through the family he loved, the community he served and all the lives he touched with quiet generosity and grace.
The family invites you to honor his memory by sharing a story, a laugh or a simple act of kindness – just as Gary did so often.
