Faron Shoptese 1960-2021

Faron Lee Shoptese, 61, Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Topeka and Kansas City, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, in Tulsa.

He was born March 4, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Peter Joseph Shoptese Jr. and Kathleen Mae Ross Pomani. He attended Royal Valley High School and graduated from trade school in Bismarck, N.D.

Mr. Shoptese worked construction most of his life in welding, roofing and concrete.

He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, Sac and Fox and Crow Creek Sioux tribes.

Survivors include his four children, Bret Shoptese, Kansas City, and Alicia, Mollie and Trent Shoptese, all of Ponca City, Okla.; a brother, Sonny J. Shoptese, Harveyville; half-sisters, Lea Cleveland, Winnebago, Neb., Rayna Ross and Glenda Wounded Knee, both of Fort Thompson, S.D., and Rhea Ross, Sioux Falls, S.D.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two half-sisters, Lerory Wounded Knee and Werdna Wounded Knee, both of Fort Thompson, S.D.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25 with a rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation is planned with family private burial at a later date in Shipshee Cemetery.
