Evelyn Cropp 1926-2023

Evelyn M. Cropp (Ray), 97, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023.

She was born on March 13, 1926, in Holton. Evelyn graduated from Mayetta High School in 1944 and later moved to Topeka. In 1948, Evelyn married her husband of 46 years, Ray W. Cropp. 

Before retirement in 1992, Evelyn held multiple positions with the State of Kansas, Grace United Methodist Church and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Evelyn is remembered for her love of flower gardening, spending time with loved ones, and most importantly baking cookies for her friends and family.

Evelyn was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was also involved in the Fairview Grade School of Jackson County Reunion Group from 1950 to 2008. 

Preceding Evelyn in passing is her husband. She is survived by her two daughters, Denise R. Taylor (Alan) of Topeka and Amy R. Cropp of Topeka. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Kari Taylor, Scott Taylor (Laurie), Zachary Bahr and Cason Bahr; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Grayson and Mallory; as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Reading Cemetery at a later date.
