Erryn Langdon 1946-2016
Erryn Elizabeth Langdon, 69, Holton, died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born Nov. 27, 1946, in Concordia, the daughter of Elson “Sparky” and Myra Freeburg Landis. She graduated from Courtland High School in 1964 and from Fort Hays State University with a bachelor of science degree in 1969. She later continued her education at Fort Hays, receiving her master of science degree in 1973 , and also studied learning disabilities at Kansas University.
Mrs. Langdon taught business education and yearbook at Courtland High School and Frankfort schools. She taught special education at Onaga and Jackson Heights schools. After retirement she was a substitute teacher for area schools.
She was involved with missionary travels to eastern Kentucky, Mexico, Thailand and Joplin, Mo. She was active in Evangel United Methodist Church and was a member of the DJs Sunday school class. She also sponsored trips with youth groups from the church and sang in the choir. She also attended Summer Assembly at Forest Park in Topeka and was a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Pilot Club, both in Holton.
She married William Langdon on Nov. 19, 1977. He died in 1997. She also was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.
Survivors include a daughter, Merriam Elizabeth Langdon, Holton; a sister, Eve M. Landis, Topeka; a brother, Millard E. Landis and wife Ethel, Independence; and a grandson, Evan Landis.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Friends are invited to a fellowship luncheon at Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton immediately following funeral services. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
