Elza Prowell 1920-2015
Elza Wayne Prowell, 95, Holton, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, in Holton.
He was born March 9, 1920, in Lebo, the son of Elza R. and Anna Grace Lafferty Prowell. He graduated from Olivet High School and Friends University and also did graduate study at Emporia State University and Washburn University.
Mr. Prowell served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He taught in Kansas schools for 37 years.
He married Martha Jane Corbin on Feb. 4, 1946, in Newton. She died June 3, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Prowell, Abilene, and Marilyn Campbell and husband Duane, Sabetha; two sons, Richard Prowell, Boston, Mass., and Steve Prowell and wife Sheryl, Lake St. Louis, Mo.; four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Prowell was cremated. Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date. Burial will be held in Lincoln Cemetery at Lebo. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
