Eddie Hinkle 1928-2025
Edward (Eddie) Newlin Hinkle, 97, of Foreman, Ark., passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, at St. Michaels Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
He was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Powhattan, the son of George Blane and Della Faye (Newlin) Hinkle.
Eddie graduated from Wetmore High School in 1946. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. He worked for Mobil Pipeline Company; the last three years of his employment were spent working in Saudi Arabia before taking an early retirement at the age of 55.
Eddie was a member of a American Legion Post 282 in Wetmore and recently joined American Legion Post 488 in New Boston, Texas. Eddie was a tinkerer of all things, an avid fisherman and traveler of the world. He was known as Papa, not only to his grandkids and great-grandkids, but by many friends and family.
Eddie married Georgia Jean Tolliver on Dec. 29, 1951. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2024, after 72 years of marriage. Eddie was also preceded in death by his parents, Blane and Della Hinkle; one son, Monty Lee Hinkle; one daughter, Diana Lynn Hinkle Gary; two brothers, Jewel Hinkle and Merrill Hinkle; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Sigle.
Left to cherish Eddie’s memory are his daughter Cindy and husband Gary Sigle of Foreman, Ark.; a sister, Laura Autrey of Topeka; two grandchildren, Lacy and husband Tyler Cranor of Foreman, Ark., and Scott and wife Kristy Sigle of Texarkana, Ark.; and three great-grandchildren, Cooper (12) and Stella (9) McElhannon and Henry Sigle (3), along with several nieces and nephews.
Graveside inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Wetmore Cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of local arrangements.
