Dwayne Barber 1967-2022

Dwayne Charles Barber, 55, of Delia, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022 at The University of Kansas St. Francis Campus.

He was born Aug. 19, 1967, in Holton, the son of Willis Lee and Julia Ann (Cook) Barber. 

Dwayne graduated from Rossville High School in 1985. He was a heavy equipment operator for road construction and was also a carpenter. 

Dwayne enjoyed his family and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Survivors include his son, Aaron Barber (Jericka) of Delia; two stepsons, Cody Wilson of Topeka and Lance Buskirk of Mayetta; a stepdaughter, Brooklyn Gama of Rossville; three sisters, Nancy M. Counts (Harvey Slover) of Mayetta, Lori L. Molina of Topeka and Lynda Webster of Horton; two brothers, Jeffrey S. Barber and Tony D. Barber (Kim), both of Delia; four grandchildren, Kiera, Easton, Bowen and Ryatt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Julia Barber; a son, Adrian C. Barber; a sister, Emily Aitkens; and a brother, William L. Barber. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Dwayne will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25 at the funeral home.
