Dr. Bruce Tillery 1960-2023

Dr. Bruce Tillery, 62, of Ozawkie, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Midland Care Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 19, 1960, in Topeka, the son of Dr. Fred and Cleo Ann (Dick) Tillery. 

Bruce graduated from Valley Falls High School, Kansas State University and University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School, earning his doctorate. He owned and operated Valley Falls Family Dental, retiring in 2022.

He enjoyed taking motorcycle rides with family and friends and going on hunting and fishing trips. He was a member of Valley Falls Rotary Club. 

Bruce married Sally A. Raymond on April 28, 1984; they later divorced. They lovingly welcomed a son, Dylan, to this union. 

Survivors include his significant other, Lynne Wichman; a son, Dylan Tillery and wife Alyssa, Topeka; a sister, Carla Davis and husband Dr. John Davis, Georgetown, Del.; two brothers, Brad Tillery and wife Terry, Georgetown, Del., and Bryan Tillery and wife Angie, Valley Falls; a granddaughter, Reina Tillery; and numerous nieces and nephews. As a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, Bruce will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 6 at Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 5 at Kearney and Son Construction. Bruce will lie in state from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls, where a guest book will be available.
