Donna Kinsler 1946-2025

Donna Kinsler, 78, of Gardner, passed away on Jan. 6, 2025, after a quick battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 306 E. Madison, Gardner. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13 at Holton Cemetery in Holton. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

Donna was born on March 26, 1946, to Jack and Esther Brown in Holton. After graduating from Holton High School, she went on to study nursing.

Donna met Sid Kinsler at a party in Topeka, where she couldn’t help but be smitten with his height and airman’s uniform. Sid and Donna married in 1969 and went on to have three daughters, Missy, Becky and Katie.

Sid and Donna raised their family in Gardner, where she worked at a variety of jobs that allowed her to be present in her kids’ lives. She spent time working at North Supply, did a stint at a Chamber of Commerce in Texas and retired from Gardner Edgerton school district where she worked as the school nurse.

After retirement, Sid and Donna moved to Holton to be closer to her family and Donna spent time cooking, crafting and regularly lost herself in a variety of novels. She read spy novels, murder mysteries, espionage books and love stories. She passed her love of reading on to her kids.

Donna was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Esther Brown; and by her husband of 52 years, Sid Kinsler. She is survived by her sister, Kathi Kimmi (Duane); and brothers Jim (Cindy), Steve (Maxine) and Tom (LeAnn). She is also survived by her kids Missy Miller (Keith), Becky Frost (Robert) and Katie Kinsler; grandchildren Courtney Miller, Jake Miller, Madison Frost, Kaylyn Johnson, Audrey Frost and Jaron Frost; and a variety of nieces and nephews.
