Donna Carriker 1935-2024

Donna Rae Carriker, 89, of Mayetta, passed away Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 at Midland Hospice in Topeka. She was born Feb. 25, 1935 in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of Jesse Clarence and Gladys Mildren (Turner) Phillips.

Donna earned her GED before proudly serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. She later earned a certificate in Interior Design. She belonged to the Mayetta community for 19 years and before lived in Council Bluff, Iowa. She was a homemaker most of her life.

She was a member of the Mayetta Christian Church.

Donna married Samuel Delbert Carriker on May 28, 1955 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2018. They celebrated more than 62 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Gladys Phillips; a son, Keith Carriker; a sister, Beverly Jensen; a brother, Gerald Phillips; and two grandsons.

Survivors include four sons, Terry Carriker (Trill) of Porter, Wash., Gene Carriker (Dona) of Rochester, Minn., Zane Carriker of Sarasota, Fla. and Mark Carriker (Teresa) of Hoquiam, Wash.; three daughters, Beth Carriker of Mayetta, Jude Gentry (Russ) of Mayetta and Wendy Miller (Bill) of Lancaster; 29 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Mayetta Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
