Don Elder (1939-2022)
Don Charles Elder, 83, Havensville, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at his home. He was born in Wheaton on June 30, 1939, to Damien Layton Elder and Corinne Louise Elder (Miller).
A lifetime resident of northeast Kansas, Mr. Elder graduated from Havensville High School in 1957 and attended Washburn University for one semester. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka, Kansas for 39 years, retiring in 1997.
He married Genevieve (Jenny) Lea Frakes in 1959. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include four sons, Brad Elder, Olathe, Greg Elder (Donna), Seneca, Mark Elder (Annette), Topeka, and Matt Elder (Lisa), Lawrence; four daughters, Dona Flowers (Shannon), Havensville, Edana McSweeney (Arthur), Westwood, Denise Sweet (Delbert), Holton, and Mary Theis (Chris) Lees Summit, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Carol Bahret, Martha Bettencourt and Paul Elder.
A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
