Dixie McAndrews 1946-2023

Dixie C. Leuthold McAndrews, Surprise, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Sante of Surprise Hospice House at the age of 77.

Born on March 2, 1946, in Holton, Dixie possessed a passion for creativity and craftsmanship. She expressed herself through her sewing, weaving and dedicated countless hours to creating beautiful quilts and numerous other projects. Dixie’s creations were not only admired by her family and friends, but they also adorned the homes of those she cared about.

Dixie is survived by her husband, David Gibbs, who stood by her side throughout their journey together. Her son, Edward McAndrews, held a special place in her heart and will forever treasure the love and guidance she provided. Dixie is also survived by her sisters, Mary Eisenbarth (Gary) and Sue Thiemann (Don), and her brother, Wilbert (Jr.) Leuthold (Stephanie) and will be missed by her nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dixie was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Eugene McAndrews; her mother, A. Carolyn Karns Leuthold; her father, Wilbert J. Leuthold; and her brother, Steven L. Leuthold. While her absence leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones and friends, they find solace in the memories they shared and the impact she had on their lives.

Dixie Carol McAndrews was a compassionate and talented woman who loved the Lord and brought beauty and warmth into the lives of those around her. Her legacy will live on through the love and creativity she instilled in others. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her loved ones find comfort in the lasting memories they hold dear.
