Debra Ketron 1954-2024

Debra Irene Ketron, 70, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at her home, with family by her side. She was born Feb. 7, 1954 in Great Bend, the daughter of Keith D. and Virginia M. (Burhenn) Richmond.

Debra graduated from Seaman High School in 1972. She worked for the Kansas Payment Center as a Payment Processing Lead in the Operations Department from 2000-2024.

Shopping, especially when finding a bargain, going out for a good meal and spending time with her family and friends were some of Debra’s favorite activities.

Debra married Charles L. Elliott in July of 1973; he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Viriginia Richmond, and two brothers, Kevin and Floyd Richmond.

She married Walter E. “Gene” Ketron on Oct. 22, 2011. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her daughter, Candi Hegemann (Chris) of Topeka; son, Charles Lee Elliott, II (Jennifer) of Holton; two sisters, Cindy Sarver (Todd) and Becky Rossman (Ron), both of Ottawa; brother, Charles Richmond of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren, Shandra, Morgan, Emily, Colby, Hanna, Mariah, Colton, Brock, Kayden and Ashton; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family burial will be at a later date at Ontario Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Debra will lie in state from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 9.
