Dean Teter 1947-2024

Dean Roscoe Teter, 76, Circleville, died Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born Dec. 27, 1947, in Holton, the son of Jay Roscoe and Aileen D. Albright Teter. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1965 and attended college at Emporia State University.

Mr. Teter served in the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1972. He was a farmer and also worked for General Foods for 10 years, and then Jeffrey Energy Center as an electrician for 19 years.

He married Theresa Rutherford on June 30, 1967, in Netawaka. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Michelle Reed and husband Chuck, Topeka, and Janelle Eisenbarth and husband Aaron, Holton; a son, Mike Teter and wife Courtney, Circleville; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren with two on the way. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Aileen Teter; and two brothers, Billy Joe and Bob Ray Teter. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 3 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday, June 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mr. Teter will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 1 and from 9 a.m. until visitation time Sunday.
