David Lake 1944-2024

David D. (Kitchkommie) Lake, 79, Mayetta, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at Encel Health in Topeka.

He was born Sept. 25, 1944, the son of Francis Kitchkommie and Minnie Puckee. He graduated from Topeka High School and attended college in Aberdeen, S.D.

Mr. Lake worked many years as a laborer and fork lift driver.

He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation. He was of the Catholic faith as a child

Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly K. Kitchkommie, Mayetta; three sons, David Kitchkommie, Topeka, Dean Loveswar, Mandan, N.D., and Kevin Lake and wife Heather, Topeka; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Deanna Muniz and Christina Fitzherbert; and numerous sisters and brothers.

Family will greet friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. following visitation at Shipshee Cemetery.
