David Carson 1946-2023

David Lee Carson of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, after a brave battle with cancer.

David was born in Portland, Ore., on Sept. 29, 1946. However, he had the good fortune of growing up with friends and family in Netawaka and Atchison. After high school, he went to Kansas City, Mo., where he began a long career in business that would take him to Atlanta, Ga., Tampa, Fla., and finally Dallas.

David owned and operated multiple companies over the years, with a long career in communications. He had an uncanny ability to make friends, was a champion of the underdog and was generous to those he loved.

David is suvived by his daughters, Ashley Carson Ferraro and Brooke Carson, as well as James Ferraro, his son-in-law, and five grandchildren, Clementina, Gaspar Blaize, Jude Anthony, Vito Joe and Scarlett Lucia Ferraro. He also leaves behind his wife, Lapeda Carson, and stepson Kevin. In addition to caring for and adoring his immediate family, he loved his many cousins and dear Uncle Bob and Aunt June Carson of Wetmore.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Dora; as well as his brothers, Lonnie, Gregory and Phillip.

David’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4. It will begin at 11 a.m. at Netawaka Cemetery with a gathering of friends and family to follow at Netawaka Community Center. All are welcomed.
