Dave Ireland 1948-2015
David S. Ireland, 66, Topeka, passed away Friday, June 20, 2015, at his home in Topeka.
Dave was born Sept. 23, 1948, in Holton, the son of Harold Ireland and Elsie Burroughs Ireland. Dave graduated from Holton High School in 1966. He received an Associate Degree and taught as an adjunct teacher at Kansas City Kansas Community College. Dave also worked for Hallmark Cards. He was sales manager at Caldwell’s John Deere for more than 28 years.
He married Karen Weiss on Feb. 9, 1968, in Raytown, Mo.
Dave served on the Shawnee County Planning Commission for more than 23 years. He was a member of the Family Life Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Post 400, past Commander of American Legion Post 142 in Perry and served as past president of the Sunrise Optimist.
Dave is survived by his wife, Karen, of more than 47 years; two daughters, Kim (Rod) Sprague of Spring Hill and Kellum Ireland of Topeka; and six grandchildren, Nicholas Sprague, JahnAsia Anderson, Kaden Ireland, David Sprague, Elsie Sprague and Eli Sprague.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23 at the Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunrise Optimist Club or the Family Life Church of the Nazarene Church Building Fund and sent in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
