Daryl Penry 1963-2024

Daryl Craig Penry, 61, of Hoyt, passed away on June 4, 2024, at Stormont Vail Hospital.

He was born on May 21, 1963, the son of Cecil and Norma (Nunley) Penry in Hoyt. Daryl grew up and lived his life in the Hoyt area.

On July 25, 2000, he was united in marriage to Glenda Mills in Great Basin National Park, Nev.

Daryl had his own excavating business. He had a natural talent and could operate anything, especially heavy equipment.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, boating and a bottle of Jack Daniels. Daryl had a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh with his practical jokes. He loved animals and adored his dogs.

Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; son, Josh Penry; and dog, Katie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda; children, Jacob, Joey, Madison and Toni; grandchildren; and his dogs, Rufus and Sam.

Family will greet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at Parker-Price and Davidson Chapel 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, at the Muddy Creek Cemetery in Hoyt.
