Danny L. Howerton 1970-2015
Danny L. Howerton, 45, Mayetta, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at his home.
He was born May 6, 1970, in Topeka the son of Marion and Diane Kennedy Howerton. He graduated from Holton High School in 1989 and had lived in the Holton area since 1984.
Mr. Howerton worked at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department for 22 years, serving as dispatcher, deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant and undersheriff. He was deputy sheriff for Denison, Hoyt and Meriden. He was also an assistant wrestling coach in Holton for two years.
He married Robin Anderson. They divorced. He later married Amanda Olsen. They divorced. He married Samantha Wahquahboshkuk on Nov. 29, 2012, in Forsyth, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include his father, Marion Howerton and wife Saundra, Mayetta; his mother, Diane Schwerdt, Garnett; two sons, Andrew Howerton, Overland Park, and Logan Howerton, Oak Harbor, Wash.; a daughter, Grace Howerton, Oak Harbor, Wash.; two brothers, Mark Howerton and Marion Howerton, both of Mayetta; two sisters, Misty Mathis, Holton, and Rosetta Stauffer, Mayetta; and his grandmother, Hazel Kennedy, Garnett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. There will be no graveside service. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
