Dale Royer 1944-2025

Dale LeRoy Royer, 80, Holton, died Thursday, April 3, 2025, in Valley Falls.

He was born June 25, 1944, in Horton, the son of Clyde Benjamin and Mary Eliza Miller Royer. He graduated in 1962 from ACCHS in Effingham and in 1971 from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in business and math.

Mr. Royer served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He worked for Blair Milling in Atchitson as a feedlot logistics manager and was a vocational technical teacher at Lansing Prison. He worked in retail management for Litwin’s and later in the ordering department for Atchison Leather, both in Atchison, then worked in construction for Gantz Drainage Co. and later retired from ARC Transportation as a dispatcher.

He was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church in Meriden.

He married Benita Louise Dick on April 19, 1975, in Wichita. She survives.

Other survivors include eight children, Adam Royer and wife Heather, Cottage Grove, Minn., Megan Royer, Valley Falls, Lora Royer, Bend, Ore., Lisa Royer-Miller and husband James, Manhattan, Eric Royer and wife Kirstin, Valley Falls, John Royer and wife Amanda, Russellville, Ohio, Emma Royer, Holton, and Mark Royer and wife Paige, Nortonville; a sister, Lois Royer-Starbuck, Chicago, Ill.; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mary Royer; and a brother, Ralph Royer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Effingham. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
