Daisy Howe 1941-2016
Daisy Howe, 75, Holton, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, at her home.
She was born May 13, 1941, in Soldier, the daughter of Donald J. and Donna Gladys Davis VanDonge. She graduated from Soldier High School and lived all of her life in the Soldier and Holton communities.
Mrs. Howe was a nurse's aide at Onaga Community Hospital and at Jackson County Nursing Home.
She had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka.
She married Ronald E. Howe on Dec. 15, 1963, in Topeka. He died May 16, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dennis VanDonge, in 1987.
Survivors include three sons, David Howe and wife Carla, Ron Howe and wife Lesley and Brian Howe and wife Squig, all of Holton; a daughter, Julie Wheeler and husband Kent, Holton; a stepdaughter, Judett Howe, Bonner Springs; two sisters, Deloris Beam and husband Don, Circleville, and Dianna Wilson and husband Willy, Holton; two brothers, Donald VanDonge and wife Evie, Topeka, and Danny VanDonge and wife Shirley, Havensville; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will follow in Soldier Cemetery. Mrs. Howe will lie in state at the funeral home, where family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
