Curt Strawn 1936-2023

Curtis Edward Strawn, fondly known as Curt, 86, of Topeka, passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, with his family by his side. 

Curt was born Nov. 9, 1936, to Ellis Strawn and Harriett Gile in Valley Falls. He graduated high school in Denison in 1954.

Previously, he was married to Norma Marshall. Later, they divorced. She survives in Holton. The children are Tammy Moulden (Mark) of Holton, Monica House (Sherman) of Lake Waukomis, Mo., and Lisa Strydom (Dave) of Topeka.  

In June of 1988, he married Virginia (Ginger) Billau. She survives. The children are Montgomery Billau (Margie) of Arkansas, Vicki Seeger (Ron) of Lawrence and Tony Billau of California. 

Curt and Ginger have nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren they adore seeing and spoiling at birthday parties and Christmas.

Curt was preceded in death by both his parents; his older brother, Robert Strawn; and a brother-in-law, Roger DeVader. 

Surviving are his sister-in-law, Sallyann Strawn, Denison; and his sister, Sarah Lynn DeVader, Holton. 

Curt was employed by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Topeka for 42 years, retiring in May of 1998.

During his lifetime he had donated 10 gallons of blood to the Topeka Blood Bank. 

Curt wished to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20 at the Goodyear Shelter House, 2501 N.W. Old Indianola Rd., Topeka. He will be laid to rest at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
