Charolette Baker 1938-2023
Charolette Baker, 85, of Electra, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023.
Charolette was born on March 18, 1938, to Howard Combs and Dorothy Hiner Combs in Jefferson, Ore. They moved to Soldier, where she graduated high school in 1956. After graduation, she worked for a restaurant in Topeka and a nursing home in Sabetha.
She married Jason Baker Sr. on May 16, 1957. From this union they had three sons, James Howard Baker, John Lee Baker and Jason Levi Baker Jr. (Jay). They lived in Pampa, Texas, until 1966, when they moved to Electra, Texas.
She worked for McHugh’s BBQ and she and Jason owned Baker’s Casing Pulling.
She and Jason were members of the Southside Church Of Christ, where she was part of the bus program and taught Sunday school. She was a loved and devoted member of the church until she was called home. When the senior citizens center opened in 1974, she volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels and she kept delivering meals until 2021. Charolette had a great love for serving others.
Charolette is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jason; brothers Kenny Hiner, Willard Combs and Arlie Combs; sisters Viola Sklenick and Charlene Callahan; and sons James Howard and Jason Levi (Jay).
She is survived by a son, John and wife Sue of Electra, Texas; two brothers, Lyle Combs and Doris of Burlington and Richard Combs and partner Erik of Tulsa, Okla.; granddaughter Rachel Elmore and husband John (Tattoo) of the Waggoner Ranch; seven great-grandchildren, Cierra Merryman and husband Adyron of Mammoth Cave, Ky., John Anthony and Austin Elmore, both of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Ricky and Savannah Rodgers and Andrew and Addilyn Elmore, all of the Waggoner Ranch; three great-great-grandchildren, Maddie and Jamison Merryman, both of Mammoth Cave, Ky., and EJ Elmore of Wichita Falls, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services were held Monday, Oct. 16 at Southside Church of Christ in Electra.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Southside Church of Christ or Electra Meals on Wheels. Falls Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Wichita Falls, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.
