Charles Rickel 1928-2025
Charles B. Rickel, 97, Mayetta, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, at The Pines in Holton.
He was born June 11, 1928, at Hoyt, the son of Dennis and Harriett Woodhead Rickel. He graduated from Hoyt High School.
Mr. Rickel was a farmer and a stockman. He also operated Rickel Construction.
He married Marjorie June Tuck on Dec. 12, 1949, at the First Baptist Church of Hoyt. She preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2022.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Clifford, Donald, Robert, George and Roland Rickel; and four sisters, Zadie Howe, Jane Martin, Dorothy Redding and Nancy Trumm.
Survivors include three daughters, Deb Rickel, Mayetta, Donnie Taylor, Hoyt, and Cindie Bailey, Delia; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at the Hoyt Cemetery. Charles will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 9:45 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.
