Charles Kolterman 1944-2019

Charles Christian Kolterman, 75, Onaga, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.

He was born March 11, 1944, in Onaga, the son of Carl A. and Louise Eichem Kolterman. He attended local schools and in 1962 graduated from Onaga High School. He was a lifelong resident of the Onaga area.

Mr. Kolterman worked for Alamo Group Inc. from 1993 to 2006, assembling mowers. He earlier worked in construction, building bridges in Kansas. After 2006, he worked at the family farm and saw mill, performing custom sawing.

He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Duluth and from 1985 to 2004, a trustee for Mill Creek Township.

He married Judy Hatfield on Oct. 27, 1984, in Duluth. She survives.  

Other survivors include a son, Chris Reeves and wife Tina, Delphos; a daughter, Amanda Ross, Baileyville; grandchildren, Katelynne Baker and husband Brandon, Onaga, McKinzi, Taylor and Ashtyn Ross, all of Topeka, and Clayton and Dallas Reeves, Delphos; a great-grandson, Lukas Baker; and two siblings, Randy Kolterman and wife Jane, Littleton, Colo., and Joyce Wheeler, Wheaton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don Kolterman; and a brother-in-law, Jim Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Duluth, with the Rev. Terry DeGiovanni officiating. Burial will follow in Home Cemetery. Mr. Kolterman will lie in state after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the church, where family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
