Cecil Mzhickteno 1959-2017
Cecil Ray “Wab-no-sah” Mzhickteno, 57, Mayetta, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
He was born Aug. 5, 1959, in Topeka, the son of Marvin D. and Norma Mattwaoshe Mzhickteno. He graduated from Topeka West High School in 1977.
Mr. Mzhickteno worked in construction with his father and had also worked for Hanover Pancake in Topeka as a bus boy and later as a cook. Most recently, he worked for Hawkins Optical as a lens crafter.
He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Survivors include his mother, Norma Mzhickteno, Mayetta; a brother, Alan Mzhickteno, Mayetta; two sisters-in-law, Anna Mzhickteno, Topeka, and Ella Mzhickteno, Mayetta; five nieces; and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin D. Mzhickteno; two brothers, Duane and Kevin Mzhickteno; an aunt, Laura Evans; and two uncles, Larry Shopteese and T.J. Seymour.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Danceground Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
