Carsie McClure 1931-2016

 

Carsie Hartzog McClure, 85, Mayetta, died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

He was born March 19, 1931.

Mr. McClure served in the U.S. Army with two tours of duty in the Korean War. He and his wife moved in 1960 to Chicago, Ill., where he worked as a machinist for Bell and Howell, retiring after 30 years. He moved to the Potawatomi Reservation in 1994.

He was a member of St. Augustine Church in Chicago and the American Indian Center.

He married Elmira McClure on April 6, 1957, in Maryland. She preceded him in death, as did his parents; 11 siblings; two children; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Windel McClure, Chicago, Ill., and Kelly McClure, Mayetta; a daugh­ter, Brenda McClure, Mayetta; a granddaughter, Stephanie Scates and husband Nate, Mayetta; and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Meierhoffer Fu­neral Home and Crematory of St. Joseph, Mo.
