Carla O'Connor 1948-2016
Carla “Melissa” O’Connor, 68, Holton, died Friday, July 15, 2016, at her home.
She was born March 3, 1948, in Walnut, Calif., the daughter of Robert (Sr.) and Melba Harrison Chapman. She attended schools in Walnut, Calif., and had spent most of her life in Pomona, Calif. She had lived in Holton since 1989.
Ms. O’Connor worked at Medicalodges Jackson County as a cook and retired in 2010, after 14 years.
She was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton.
She married David O’Connor in July of 1966 in Pomona, Calif. They divorced.
Survivors include her children, David O’Connor and wife Kim and Jennifer O’Connor-Fund, all of Holton, Brian Hawkins, Port Orchard, Wash., and Mark Chapman, Topeka; two sisters, Sharron Jenkins, Holton, and Donna Higgins, Canyon Country, Calif.; five grandchildren, Kris Fund, Kassidy Fund, Kory McDonald, Killian O’Connor and Ethen O’Connor; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert Chapman Jr., Rex Bell and Jack Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.
