Carl Bohnenkemper 1928-2015

Carl E. Bohnenkemper, 86, Denison, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at his home.
He was born Nov. 16, 1928, in Holton, the son of Norman and Helen Sorg Bohnenkemper. He graduated from Willis High School in 1946.
Mr. Bohnenkemper served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a carpenter and owned and operated Denison Lumber Yard from 1947 to 1975. He also was a custom baler.
He earned Korean Service Medal, Bronze Camp Stars, United Nations Service Medal and a Purple Heart. He was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church and Holton VFW Post 1367.
He married Thelma L. Trundle on July 17, 1955, in Wetmore. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Brenda Long and husband Carl, North Richland Hills, Texas, and Mark Bohnenkemper and wife Laura and Marcia Rucker, all of Topeka; a sister, Mary Lou Stous and husband Marvin, Holton; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bohnenkemper’s wish was to be cremated. Memorial graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Denison Cemetery.
