Bryce Moore 1939-2025

Bryce Barkley Moore, 86, died Aug. 28, 2025, in Kansas City.

He was born July 2, 1939, in Horton to Harry and Jetta Moore. Surviving siblings are Sam Moore, Marion Moore, and Becky Stauffer. Deceased siblings are Nancy Schirmer and Jarry Moore.

Bryce graduated from Holton High School in 1957 and Kansas State University in 1961. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was in the First Marine Air Wing in Japan. He graduated from Washburn Law School. In 1971, he became the Director of Workers’ Compensation. He served as a Court of Appeals judge.

He worked at Travelers Insurance Company. After retirement, Mr. Moore volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital and Johnson County’s GED program. He joined Johnson County’s Senior Art Council. Bryce enjoyed his relationships with his family and was very close to his nephews, David and Derek Moore.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 at Larkinburg Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Larkinburg Christian Church.
