Bruce Fund 1965-2025

Bruce Fund, 60, Wetmore, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 at The University of Kansas Medical Center with family by his side.

He was born March 13, 1965 in Seneca, the son of Larry and Betty Jane (Cooper) Fund. 

Mr. Fund graduated from Wetmore High School in 1983. He was a heavy equipment operator for Wildcat Construction and built houses with B&L Construction, pole barns all over Northeast Kansas with Tony Edwards and bridges for Claycamp Construction. He had most recently worked with the Bloom family.

Mr. Fund was a member of ABATE District 11, a charter member of the Chopper City Crew and a founding member of the Wetmore Men’s Club.

He married Martha Fund on July 26, 1997 in Whiting. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Dylan James Fund, Goff, Kenneth R. Hoelscher, Claremore, Okla., and Jeremy W. Hoelscher, Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Desiree L. Fund, Lansing, Mich.; two brothers, Brad Fund and wife Sarah, Wetmore, and Bryan Fund and wife Mikayla, Topeka; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Betty Fund, and a son, Justin Wommack.

Mr. Fund will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29 at Wetmore High School in Wetmore. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
