Bob Morgan 1944-2015

 

Robert A. Morgan, 71, of Holton, died Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

He was born May 2, 1944 in Holton, the son of Ora and Elsie Wanner Morgan. He graduated from Holton High School in 1962 and from the Capitol City Barber School in Topeka.

Known as “Barber Bob” to all, he had cut hair in the same shop on the south side of the town square from the time he finished barber school until now, more than 52 years.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Holton, Past Master of Holton Masonic Lodge No. 42, A.F.&A.M., where he had been a member for 49 years, and the Scottish Rite. He earned the God & Country Award in Boy Scouts and was a former Boy Scout Leader. Bob was a member of the Holton/Jackson County Chamber of Com­merce and the Holton Main Street Program, and a former member of Holton Lions Club.

He married Betty Jane Sewell on Dec. 14, 1963, in the former EUB Church at Holton. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Other survivors include a son, Alan Morgan and wife Katherine, Stafford, Va.; a brother, Richard Morgan and wife Ruth, Manhattan; three grandchildren, Robert, Chan­dler and Preston Morgan, and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation is planned. A memo­rial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6th at the First Christian Church in Holton. Inurnment will follow in the Holton Cemetery. A register book will be available to sign at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton.
