Bob Beightel 1945-2024
Robert “Bob” Paul Beightel, 79, Holton, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka with family by his side.
He was born June 25, 1945, the son of Gerald Madison and Dorothy Agnes Kane Beightel. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1963.
Mr. Beightel worked for the State of Kansas and Goodyear Tire in Topeka. He worked most of his life as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of Circleville Christian Church and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association.
He married Linda Mae Allen on Dec. 16, 1963. She survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Gordon “Gordy” Grant Beightel and wife Karen, Holton, and William “Bill” Edward Beightel and wife Marissa, Soldier; four sisters, Mary Ellen Edwards, Holton, Geraldine Moore, Maple Hill, Sue Wichman, Holton, and Virginia Christian and husband Steve, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, David Beightel, St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Janice Beightel; and three brothers-in-law, Melvin Edwards, Tom Moore and Verlin Wichman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial to follow in Olive Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
