Bob Allen 1945-2015

 

Charles Robert “Bob” Allen, 69, Topeka, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He was born Sept. 3, 1945, in Okmulgee, Okla., the son of Char­les Kring and Edith Allen. He graduated from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles, Calif., and later from Washburn University.

Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam. He had lived in Holton prior to moving to Topeka. He retired from South­western Bell in 1991.

He was a member Central Park Christian Church and Holton Lodge 42, AF&AM. He was Past Associ­ate Grand Guardian for Kansas Job’s Daughters.

He married Helena Chalakee on April 26, 1969, in Okmulgee, Okla. She died April 28, 1983. He mar­ried Judy Evans on Feb. 28, 1984, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include six chil­dren, five siblings and nine grand­children.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. In­dependence Ave., Topeka. Masonic services will be conducted at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 S.W. 17th St., Topeka. Mr. Allen will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at the fu­neral chapel, where family will re­ceive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
