Bill McCauley 1949-2025
William Hanna “Bill” McCauley Jr., 76, of Holton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, with family by his side.
He was born Sept. 30, 1949, in Mayetta, the son of William Hanna McCauley Sr. and Betty Jane (Sinda) McCauley.
Bill graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1966 at Norridge, Ill. He lived in Chicago, Ill., from 1963 to 1988 and Aurora and Golden, Colo., for 18 years before moving back to Mayetta.
He was a sales manager for the beverage industry for more than 25 years, worked for Titan Industries for 10 years and most currently worked at Western Hydro for Mike Yeager with the Wichita office. He also sold cars and worked for Cecil K’s and Heartland Meat Market.
Bill married Sue Lynn Schwolow on Jan. 30, 1977, in Las Vegas, Nev. They celebrated more than 48 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Holton; a son, Kevin P. McCauley (Ivonne) of Vernon Hills, Ill.; a daughter, Bridget E. Marchese (Michael) of Westminster, Colo.; two sisters, Kathleen Lundgren of Plainfield, Ill., and JoAnn Donnelly (Lou) of Littleton, Colo.; aunts Phyllis Lauer (Donald) of Libertyville, Ill., and Sharon Lewan (Larry) of Oshkosh, Wisc.; and last but not least, his and Sue’s dog, Fluffy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Betty McCauley; two brothers, Michael and Patrick McCauley; and his beloved dog, Tippy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 25 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at the funeral home. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
