Betty Myers 1932-2024
Betty Lou Myers, 92, Havensville, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, at Oakley Place of Rossville.
She was born July 16, 1932, at home south of Mt. Olive, the daughter of Carl Charles and Nellie “Mae” Day Sauvage. She graduated from Havensville High School in 1950.
Mrs. Myers was a homemaker and helped her husband Dean with the family construction business, Myers Construction.
She was a member of Havensville Christian Church, a charter member of Onaga Hospital Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and a 60-year member of American Legion Auxiliary.
She married Dean Frederick Myers on Dec. 16, 1950 in Topeka. He died Oct. 8, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mae Sauvage; and three brothers, Harvey P., Bill and Carl E. “Gene” Sauvage.
Survivors include five children, Cindy Shaw and husband Steve, Silver Lake, Trudy Francis and husband Terry, Topeka, Mindy Sieve and husband Tim, Topeka, Jody Myers, Edgerton, and Randy “Buck” Myers, Havensville; 14 grandchildren, Tracy Mercer and husband Chris, Scott Sloop and wife Rosie, Justin Shaw and wife Debbie, Cory Francis and wife Jessica, Jamie Francis and husband Billy Emerson, Amanda Farmer and husband Travis, Matt Hamilton and wife Tracy, Tabetha Davis and husband Josh, Tyler Correll, Cory Myers, Matt Myers and wife Chloe, Ashley Bean and husband Dale, Casey Myers and Colby Myers; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Havensville Cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
